Hi friends! I don’t remember the last time I picked up an iron and set out an ironing board. Ironing scares me. It truly is the worst! When we were children, my curious little sister burned her hand when she touched a hot iron. An iron fell on my husband’s arm when he was a child. He still has a scar on his forearm, and remembering the incident traumatizes him.
It’s 2021, and irons are still heavy, corded, hot, require water, and dangerous! So when my friends at Tom and Sheri’s sent me a bottle of Iron in a Bottle to try and review, I was ecstatic!
Iron in a Bottle comes in three bottle sizes: travel size 3oz, 16oz, and 32oz. You can choose from two scents: fresh linen or unscented. The fresh linen scent will make your clothes smell clean; however, Iron in a Bottle will not clean your clothes, only magically iron them. Iron in a Bottle is plant-based. Below is the ingredients list:
Fresh Linen Scent: Water, Glycerin, PEG-60 Almond Glycerides, Polysorbate 20, Essential Oil Fragrance.
Unscented: Water, Glycerin, PEG-60 Almond Glycerides, Polysorbate 20.
Instructions:
“It’s as easy as 1, 2, 3. Hang clothing on a hanger or lay it on a flat surface to start, and spray 8-12 inches away from the garment in a sweeping motion until wrinkles on the front and back are slightly damp. Smooth fabric downward, and gently pull to watch the wrinkles release. Let dry completely before wear.
Prior to spraying, shaking and smoothing the entire garment, we recommend testing a small, hidden portion of fabric. Please proceed with caution on silks, rayon, satin or fabric that has a tendency to water-spot. Iron in a Bottle is highly recommended for use on wool, oxfords, soft cotton, t-shirts, polyester blends, flannel, heavy cotton, chinos, denim, poplin, linen and cotton blends.” Tom and Sheri’s
It really works!
I tested Iron in a Bottle on my silk robes from Kim + Ono and on a t-shirt from Uniqlo. You should proceed with caution when spraying on silks, rayons, satin or fabric. I tested on a small portion of my robe and did not see any water staining or damage, so I went on with my testing. Results were instantaneous. You spray the garment until the front and the back are slightly damp, you can shake the garment or give it a tug, and watch the wrinkles disappear. for the t-shirt, I didn’t even have to smooth it out. The wrinkles disappeared in seconds.
The results came quicker and stronger when I used Iron in a Bottle on a cotton t-shirt from Uniqlo.
How does this work?
“A plant-based surfactant is the active ingredient in Tom & Sheri’s Iron in a Bottle. We liken the surfactant to a hair conditioner, in that it relaxes the fibers of your clothing as a conditioner would your hair. This allows them to be manipulated (aka straightened out), causing the wrinkles to release.” Tom and Sheri’s
