Quick, easy and festive DIY charcuterie boards from Platterful, an honest review
Hi friends! We recently received a large charcuterie kit from Platterful and were so happy to show it off on Thanksgiving. Our guests were impressed and pleased with the selection of salamis and cheeses, and we loved putting the board together. Note that the kit we received did not come with a board, so if you get just the kit, you’ll have to use your own board. (And if you don’t have a board, you can use a parchment-paper lined surface that is easy to clean!)
Let’s start with the things we love about Platterful Charcuterie Kits here at Philandmama.com. We loved how easy it was to recycle the packaging We loved the compostable cutlery and adored the little honeycomb dipping stick. The selection of goodies was also great and delectable, with three different cheeses and two different salamis, nuts, chocolate, crackers, and olives; there was also the honey, jam, and mustard to use as spreads. We did feel color was needed, so we added crunchy slices of persimmons. Raspberries, blueberries, and apple slices would be nice here too.
We love how the kit came with instructions. The aesthetics of a charcuterie board is very important. You can go on Platterful’s Youtube channel to learn how to fold roses or rivers of salami.
The large kit goes for $114 right now, discounted from $139 and there’s a subscribe and save option. Those of you needing last-minute gifts, this a very nice kit, especially for people who love charcuterie boards but don’t know where to start! It takes the guesswork out of what to buy and the ingredients are varied and fun (there’s something for everyone!) The kit was also very fun to put together. Phil, nine-years-old now, had a blast building the board with me using the kit, and eating along.
For those of you who like to build your own boards and have favorite brands of cheeses and proteins in mind, this may not be for you. In honesty, we see ourselves purchasing these kits as gifts, but not really subscribing or buying these for ourselves because we just don’t host that many parties that require a full charcuterie spread. But we love this concept and wish Platterful so much success! We’ll definitely be gifting a kit or two this year to friends and family!
