Modified Korean "10-Step" Beauty Routine for Busy Moms
Korean Beauty Secrets and Tips
After one of my best friends (a new mommy herself) told me about the Korean 10-Step Beauty Skincare Routine, I had to find out for myself what the entire process entailed. There is so much information on the web out there and unfortunately, the information is not consistent. The Korean 10-step Beauty Routine seems to be a myth, a made-up process meant to help Korean skincare product companies sell their products! Well, my fellow mommies out there, let me tell you this... there is a skincare routine to follow, but you don't have to go with ten steps each time!
I realized that I already had many of the products people use during the routine in my beauty cabinet. Here are the products I use and the steps I follow for my modified Korean 10-Step Beauty Routine. A month into this process, I've stopped using foundation and cover ups, and greet the world with glowing, silky smooth skin! I'm also starting to notice less acne!
#1 Makeup Remover: in the photograph above is an oil-based makeup remover (Mango Seed Lip & Eye Makeup Remover from the Face Shop). I shake it up and place it on a cotton ball and wipe off my makeup. (Evening routine during makeup removal) 2 minutes
#2 Face Cleanser: (Acne Solution Foam Cleanser from the Face Shop). In the evening, you wash your face after you use the makeup remover. In the daytime, you use this after you wake up. Cleansing your face will make it easier for the subsequent products to penetrate your skin. When you're cleansing your face, make sure to be thorough and massage your skin. 3 minutes
#3 Essence: Essence is like a toner. You put essence on a cotton ball and wipe it all over your face after cleansing. (Daytime and Evening) I have two but I am currently using the Time Revolution, the First Treatment Essence by Missha. My other one is the Jant Blanc Aloe Toner that came with a set I had received as a gift. 1 1/2 minutes
#4 Serum: You apply serum after the toner (Daytime and Evening). Some people replace serum with a face sheet mask. If you're in a hurry, you probably won't want to use a face sheet mask in the morning. I am currently using Baby Leaf Green Tea Moisturizing Serum from the Face Shop. 30 seconds (Face mask would be 10-15 minutes)
#5 Emulsion: I actually think you can skip this step. Emulsion is a light lotion that you place on your face after using the serum. (Daytime and Evening). I use the Baby Leaf Green Tea Emulsion from the Face Shop. 30 seconds
#6 Eye cream: After all the steps above, you gently pat eye cream around your eyes. (Daytime and Evening) I use the Jant Blanc Aloe Eye Cream. 1 minute
#7 Sleeping Pack: For Evening only, after all of the steps above, I apply a moisturizing sleeping pack (night cream) to my face and go straight to bed. I got two as a gift and brought one myself. I don't know which one is the best at this time. I do love the TONY MOLY Magic Food Banana Sleeping Pack because I love smelling like bananas right before I go to bed. Plus it is super moisturizing!!! 1 minute
#8 Sun block: After all the Daytime steps, I cover my face with a layer of sunblock. I am in love with my Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream (Daytime Only!) 1 minute
So my busy mommy friends, you'll see that you won't have to spend a lot of times through this modified Korean "10-Step" Beauty Skincare Routine. The end result is daily clean, moisturized and energized skin and complexion! Sometimes, I deviate from this process, and use a Fresh Face mask from LUSH after I use the cleanser.
I hope you have fun with your own modified routine and leave me comments if you have any questions!
